National Foundation for Civil Society Development has officially inaugurated the IMPACT – European Center for Cross-Sector Partnerships in the facilities of the former military barracks “Franko Lisca” on 16 October 2009.
By the Decision of the Croatian Government Committee for State Property Management, the National Foundation has been awarded the facilities of the former military barracks “Franko Lisca” for the purpose of establishing the IMPACT Center. After almost two years of renovations and equipping, the National Foundation has opened the Center to the interested representatives of the public, private and non-profit sectors in the Republic of Croatia and South east Europe.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were given by Alessandro Fracassetti, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Croatia, one of the main partners in establishing the Center, Radovan Dunatov, Head of the Zadar City Office for Culture and Sport, and Cvjetana Plavša-Matić, Director of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development and Head of the IMPACT Center.
Alessandro Fracasseti, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Croatia
“We believe this is very important for several reasons, and one of them is that developing cross-sector partnerships should indirectly contribute to fight against poverty, democratization of the society and civil society development, which can in turn contribute to better social and local circumstances, promoted by UNDP”.
Cvjetana Plavša-Matić, Director of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development and Head of the IMPACT Center
“After two years of intense works on the ex-military barracks’ facilities which were partly neglected and had old infrastructure, we managed to rebuild it and adapted it to the future tasks of the IMPACT Center. We believe we have every reason to be proud of the facilities the IMPACT will work in and perform its future tasks”.
IMPACT – European Center for Cross-Sector Partnerships is the first and, at the moment, the only cross-sector cooperation center in South east Europe. IMPACT influences the strengthening of local democratic structures and creation of an environment that supports the development of cooperation and partnerships among local civil society organizations, local authorities, business sector and the media with the objective to meet the needs of local communities and develop cross-sector cooperation.
